A statement by the Nigerian Communications Commission, directing a shutdown of all telecomms operations in parts of Katsina State, like was directed in Zamfara Last week is generating a lot of concerns among Nigerians.
The Katsina State government has debunked claims circulating in some online social media platforms that, the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has directed the shut down of telecommunication services.
Although the shutdown of telecomms operations in Zamfara state was to give room for security activities to stem the disturbing security in that part of the country.
However, a statement by Al-Ameen Isa, the Director-General, Social Media to the Governor Masari of Katsina State states that the publication is fake and not substantiated
“…The katsina state government has not yet taken any decision to shut down telecommunication services in the state. The good people of Katsina state will be given adequate notice before such a decision is taken by the government…”
There has been dastardly attacks and abduction in Katsina state in recent times., the latest being the abduction of the wife and sons of the state house of assembly, Ibrahim Kurami.
